Last Working Day of 2006
The last working day of 2006 went well, i guess.
Got treated to an expensive 'tasting' lunch at Chinos restaurant, the Tong Le restaurant near Devil's bar. The food and ambience were great. But the serving was quite slow, and when we expressed our frustrations to the waiter, he handled the situation so well that i tot he deserved a SMILE award for being so patient and smiley. He even squat down to talk to my colleague so that they were of the same 'talking' level.
Then there was a staff nite at the new marina south pier. Despite the rain for the past few days, the weather was great yesterday. There were free flow of beer at the rooftop. The only thing that went wrong was that there wasnt enuff light when nite-time came. We could hardly see what we were eating, and it was so dark that it was even 'unsafe' to walk ard, esp. for the older folks. In case they wanna make use of the space for nite-time event, pls, give more Light. It was ok meeting and catching up with a few colleagues from other depts, but entertainment provided were kinda boring. There were a couple of 'pole-dancers' which were 'weak' according to one of my colleagues. Going for these events would be to catch up with pple from other depts, and not really for the event itself, i guess.
Then, got dragged to Dragonfly at St. James. My third visit to the powerstation. It was madness going on a friday nite, esp one with a long weekend tagged to it. We took ages to find a lot at Vivo, queued for at least 45 mins outside the club, and when we got in after paying 15 bucks, Dragonfly short-changed me by not giving me my drinking coupon. I had no idea that u were supposed to get a coupon to exchange 4 drink at the cashier, as some places accepted just the receipt. Stupid me gave the receipt, only to be told i need a coupon. What u want me to do?!? Go back to the Indian lady at the cashier and said 'hey, u forgot to give me drinking coupon 45 mins ago just now' ? It sounded so unbelievable to me even, how to make them believe it's really their fault? Maybe i shd ask them to re-play the cctv to check.
Anyway, it was quite bad service (minus the short-changing part), the lockers were all full - my girl frens had no idea what to do with their bags, the bartender took forever to serve a simple drink. It was crowded, with uncles dancing beside us, but the music was good, at least to us. We were all channel-8 people, so chinese, canto and evergreen eng songs were soothing. Maybe shd go again when it was less crowded..
